Control LED Indicators Glow

The control relay raise/lower indicator LEDs glow faintly on some older RAK-1 units when the system is idle. The glow is not bright enough to be confused with an "on" state but it can be seen under close observation.

While not preferable, this is normal and it is harmless. Resistors were added to dampen the visible effect shortly after it was identified. It does not indicate any type of failure of the system. Newer units have a different drive circuit and this behavior does not occur.

When any channel is selected on any installed RP-8, the control lines are terminated and glowing, if present, ceases. When the system is idle, or if a channel is selected that does not exist in the installation, the control indicator LEDs may glow from leakage current.
